OBJECTIVE

– Being in touch with a constant presence;

– Developing a performative attitude, presence, and structure in a series of momentary actions;

– Developing singular strategies of listening, perception and intervention in relation to one’s artistic practice and the performative;

– Developing our way of sensing and experiencing reality, engaging in actions that go beyond logical thought and one-dimensional perception;

– Be transformed by what occurs while developing our fields of artistic experience.

CONTENT

Through exercises in centering, observation, expression and authentic presence, as well as role-playing, individual work, short solo presentations and coaching, and by using different objects related to the creative process, you’ll be able to gather and assume the continuity necessary to actualize your sense of the performative.

This training course’s activities and theoretical concepts are inspired by the basic principles of the performative mode and other current art forms such as performance art, relational, wandering, contextual, infiltrating and furtive practices. The artist’s position as a witness becomes a catalytic and transformative agent in this state of readiness to be valued.

The performative approach develops a lively way to engage in dialogue with time, space, the body and other components of reality through spontaneous decisions and actions.

Performative actions, relational art and rituals of circumstance are all practices in which she is involved. She has published artists’ books and over sixty articles on a significant array of performers. She published with the TouVA collective in 2017 the bilingual book about the performative Le 7e Sens. Since 1995, she has developed several venues and contexts for artist residencies. She has expertise in individual and collective coaching for practitioners who contribute to the expansion of the performing arts and is a lecturer at the Université de Sherbrooke.

I’m happy to revisit Sylvie’s workshop again. Her guidance allows me to dive deeper into my creation journey. Her teaching allows me to be sincere and present with my intention
