CONTENT
The workshop I suggest is an introduction to improvisation through the Waacking lens, or perhaps the one I lend it. We’ll touch on the basics of waacking and other body techniques, giving us the opportunity to explore the physical and creative plurality that lies within us. Through various exercises, we’ll take the time to become aware of our choices and to commit to them in order to develop a greater presence in ourselves. The exercises shared are inspired by my personal waacking practice and my “Trigger Point” research into my movement motors and the active listening required in improvisation.

ACCESSIBILITY
This workshop is open to anyone interested in taking part. Exercises can be adapted to suit individual abilities.

BIOGRAPHY
Inspired by all forms of expression and by naturopathy, Marie-Reine MQueen Kabasha combines her love of movement of all kinds with her pleasure in sharing in all her practices. From freestyle to theater to teaching, every opportunity for exchange nourishes her.

Active in the Montreal dance scene since 2013, she has had the opportunity to work with creators with a refined and versatile artistic language, many of whom are leading figures in street dance in Montreal as well as internationally. Notably, with EBNFLOH, Tentacle Tribe and Ma Dame Paris. More recently, she has been working with Brigitte Poupart, Grand Poney, Sébastien Provencher, Helen Simard and Caroline Laurin-Beaucage.

At the same time, she has a growing interest in research and creation. Since 2019, she has been working on her own artistic language via a research project named “Trigger Point”. Through this, she continues to commit to her first gestural love, Waacking/Whacking.
